About the Author

Hey. I’m Wylla Montaire.
You can call me the Weird Muse.

I learned about love, ruin, and longing from a wall of Harlequin paperbacks I was absolutely not supposed to be reading. Those stolen romances, combined with a steady diet of epic fantasy where characters suffered, triumphed, and felt genuine emotion, were a revelation. They ruined me for the ordinary.

The problem with being ruined for the ordinary is that the ordinary still demands your time.

For sixty hours a week, my reality is Ed Tech. I spend my days solving other people’s crises in a world entirely devoid of magic.

I write because I refuse to let that mundane reality win. I fight to keep whimsy, hope, and untamed fantasy alive in my own head, and I write it down for anyone else suffocating under their own daily grind.

I do not write about world-ending wars or chosen ones. My rebellion is much more intimate and playful. I write smutty bodice-rippers set in low-stakes, lived-in fantasy worlds. My stories are slice-of-life magic grounded by deeply emotional transformations. I write the raw heat of a vintage romance anchored in cozy, enchanted inns and quiet magic where characters are allowed to simply exist, fall apart, and put themselves back together with love and heart.

Fantasy, for me, is more than a simple escape. It is a return to something true.

If you understand the necessity of this kind of rebellion, I want you in my circle.
